Does Nicaragua’s new visa free travel for Cubans open up an additional migration route to the States? 
It’s Thanksgiving here in the States and we are super thankful for you. Overall, it’s a slow news week coming out of the Florida Straits. One story worth noting is that Nicaragua is opening up visa free travel to Cubans. On the surface it doesn’t seem like a big deal and it is an expected partner for Cuba. But, it creates a new option for those wishing to leave the island for Central America and possibly travel north to the United States.
The New York Times is reporting on Yunior García from exile status in Madrid. Tourists are starting to trickle in to Cuba – which we support because it gives cuentapropistas cash to feed their families. It’s been five years since Fidel’s death. And, Maduro made a surprise visit to Havana. While we try to keep politics out of things, we still kinda just say, “who cares about Maduro?” The guy’s a bit of a dick. Amirite? Cubans will now be able to travel to Nicaragua without any visa requirements. Word of this change has made its way around the island, creating hope for many who are desperate to leave. It would allow entry to Central America, which would help Cubans make it north, to possibly cross the United States, Mexico border. Read more at local10.com.
